Jesse Richardson (1973-2012)

A man among men and larger than life, Jesse left this world suddenly when he collapsed with a brain stem aneurysm while closing down a music festival in Atlantic City. Jesse was born, raised, and lived his life in Austin. He was an independent spirit that never ran with the herd, but eventually came to manage them for C3 Productions as Site Coordinator for big festivals like the Austin City Limits Music Festival and Lalapalooza. In 2012 alone, Jesse had coordinated concert productions in Costa Rica and Brazil. He was involved in setting up the Obama Inauguration and White House Easter Egg Rolls, not to mention some of the smaller events like Blues on the Green. Jesse loved Star Wars from childhood and it was always magical to hear the Star Wars anthem played at the opening of the ACL shows each day. This made them so especially Jesse’s shows. He was humble when it came to his work. He never asked anyone to do anything he wouldn’t do himself, so you could find him digging a hole to fix a broken pipe. His crew and coworkers loved and respected him. He was a man of big appetites and an adventurous spirit and had many talents: he could draw, create with wood, and could finish a 1,000 piece puzzle within hours. He was close with his family and spent many happy hours at family get-togethers and vacations from ski trips to New Mexico to trips to Baja on the Sea of Cortez where he scuba dived and caught dorado and lobsters. Jess loved music.
