Memorial Wall

IMG_20160715_131114975The Center honors artists who have passed away by posting their photographs on a memorial wall that spams the length of the property. Included are artists, writers and performers, philanthropists and others who have been important to Austin’s culture. Their influence is felt every day and this event serves to acknowledge and pay tribute to them. Altar offerings are welcome any time the parking lot gates are open.

Every November for our annual Dia de los Muertos Event, new honorees are inducted to the wall, followed by a short service, then a celebration of life in SouthPop style. Stay up to date with our  Exhibition and Events Schedule or our Facebook Page for current details.

As the monument continues to age, SouthPop is in the process of updating current and new inductees’ memorial photos to be more weather-proof, long-lasting, and to provide more information to help memorialize Austin’s cultural icons and their contributions to our lives, both people who already know and love them, and visitors who have yet to learn. If you’re interested in supporting these efforts, please consider a donation sponsoring one of our Memorial Wall members for an upgrade.
