06/17/18 – SouthPop’s 14th Anniversary Exhibition!
Wow man, can you believe SouthPop is finishing up its 14th year?! Please join us on Sunday, June 17th (Father’s Day!) to celebrate with us! We’re opening an exhibition featuring a selection from our permanent collection to kick off our 14th exhibition season, and of course hosting live music, refreshments, and all the trimmings needed to enjoy a great Father’s Day afternoon.
SouthPop has been working tirelessly for 13 whole years to conserve, collect, and exhibit the most rockin’ of Austin’s Live Music History. We are slowly building a digital archive of our physical collections, working on an ongoing Oral History Project, participating in off-site events all over Austin (and even farther!), and we host a full calendar of free concerts featuring Austin bands, old and new, to bring together our community and celebrate Austin’s rich and unique culture.
Sunday, June 17th we will be hosting our customary exhibition opening. Doors open at 2pm, Extreme Heat will take the stage at 3, and Van Wilks will play afterward until 6pm. Admission is a $5 suggested donation at the door, though a SouthPop Membership is as good as money, and ANY DAD WHO BRINGS HIS KIDDOS/GRAND KIDDOS is welcome to come enjoy the good ‘ole Austin music and stories for FREE. Please remember there is NO PARKING AT SOUTHPOP/PLANET K, so please park on Collier Street.
The exhibition will run from June 17 through September 29th during our regular business hours, Thursday – Sunday from 1-6pm, when admission is always free. Please stay tuned to this webpage or check out our Facebook for updates. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org, give us a call at 512-440-8318, or send us weird, cryptic poetry if you have any questions.
