CANCELED – 05/03/2018 – From Deep In The Heart: SouthPop’s Annual Fundraiser

** Due to incliment weather, we have had to cancel our Dinner with a Dillo Event. Please stay tuned as we reorganize and plan another event. Thank you all so much for your support. **

Please join us at Threadgill’s beer garden on Thursday, May 3, 2018 for our annual “Dinner with an Armadillo” fundraiser!

Just like in previous years, we’ll be hosting dinner wherein you can purchase a plate to sit with one of your favorite Austin Cultural Icons. The complete list of table celebrities include:

Joe King Carrasco
Curtis Clarke of Evangeline Cafe
Floyd Domino
Cornell Hurd, frontman of Cornell Hurd Band
John Inmon
Bill Kirchen
Bob Livingston Music
Van Wilks
Joe Nick Patoski
Christine Albert and Chris Gage of Albert and Gage
Travis County Clerk Dana DeBeauvoir
Al Staehely
Our dear, dear friend, Bob “Daddy-O” Wade

Rush Evans of KOOP Radio
Club Owner and Philanthropist, Susan Antone
Jim Franklin

Check in and drinks start at 6pm, and dinner will be served at 7:09pm. Lissa Hattersley and Trip Trio will perform while you pick your celebrity’s brain and share stories. We will be offering a limited edition print by an Austin gig poster artist (yet to be determined), as well as some free SouthPop swag. You’ll also be able to enter raffle drawings for door prizes throughout the evening, and a silent auction featuring Austin music related art and memorabilia, and so much more.

Please stay tuned for more details as we receive them — including a poster for the event and the link to purchase tickets, which we will have once we’ve got everyone’s schedule set in stone.

With the funds we collected at last year’s fundraising dinner we were able to begin our 50 Over 50 Oral History Project, bring in some new staff, and organize our Free Concert Series. This year we are hoping to continue to support our Free Concert Series that bring together the local community to celebrate Austin Bands from the past and present, continue recording for our Oral History Project, and look into off-site storage for our ever-expanding collections.

Without your support we could not continue to #KeepAustinWeird and share with all the young people and newcomers what really makes our city so incredible.

Please mark your calendars and we’ll see y’all at Threadgill’s

If you’re interested in sponsoring the event, or donating an item/service for auction or raffle, please email Leea at or fill out our online donation form at
