Broken Spoke Exhibit Postponed

Broken Spoke 1976 Juke

Dear SouthPop Fans:

As you know SouthPop’s next exhibit was scheduled to feature the Broken Spoke and open in late January.  After pondering the scope of this exhibit subject and knowing 2014 is the Spoke’s 50th anniversary (yes, that’s right folks) we have decided to postpone the opening to fall 2014- date certain to be announced soon.  We will be able to document through photography the months coming up through this anniversary year, adding dimension to the story.

We also want your Broken Spoke stories and we’d be grateful for the loan of items for the exhibit, so please let us know if you’ve got some fun Spoke items to contribute.  Email us as samopc@gmail.com.

You’re invited in the meantime to come by and look through portions of the permanent collection and see what we’ve been gathering for almost ten years.  You might be surprised at what you’ll see.

Production staff at South Pop are also preparing for our March exhibit that features artwork and photos from the documentary produced by Gary Fortin titled The Road to Austin.  Many wondrous items are being prepared for your viewing pleasure…that exhibit opens March 8th.

Thanks for your support as SouthPop continues to explore Austin’s alternate route to peace, love and happiness.

All the best,

Leea Mechling
Executive Director
